Split-Levels, Raised Basements, and Where the Tank Ends Up

The split-level houses that fill much of Little Neck do not have a conventional full basement. They have a lower level that is partly above grade, often finished as a den or family room, with the utility space tucked behind it or beneath the upper section. The southern part, toward Union Turnpike and the Long Island Expressway, is more conventional detached and semi-detached housing with driveways and standard basements. Straightforward work.

The Replacement Process

1. Free estimate. Tell us the tank size, where it sits, and how you reach it. We can often price it on the phone; otherwise we come out same day at no cost.
2. Old tank out. Remaining oil is pumped and the usable fuel held for transfer. The tank is removed, or cut down in place if it cannot leave whole, then hauled away and disposed of.
3. New tank in. Set on a proper base, connected to your oil lines and burner, with fill and vent piping updated as needed and a new filter and shutoff valve.
4. Test and clean. Burner fired, joints checked under pressure, your usable oil transferred back, basement left clean. Three to four hours is typical.
